Hari ini, ada progress presentation for fyp2, sementara nak tunggu 3.10 pm ni, nak cerita sikit pasal aku punya projek sebagai persediaan sebelum nak present petang nanti and nak share dengan pelawat-pelawat blog aku. ~~
Disebabkan aku final year student kat UIA, so kitorang kenalah buat final year project (fyp).
In simple words aku kena cipta dadah baru.
"cipta dadah baru??, habislah Malaysia jadi pusat jualan dadah baru, huhu~~"
Mula-mula akupun pelik, kenapa nak kena design dadah? Tapi sekejap je pelik, lama-lama baru teringat, dadah ada banyak kegunaan, bukan rosakkan remaja je, tapi menyembuhkan penyakit. Dadah memang selalu dijadikan sebagai ubat. Cuma kalau disalah gunakan dan overdose dia akan menjadi lawan and give bad effects. Hanya orang berilmu pasal dadah saja tau kegunaan dadah...
Back to my project, the title is computational studies of bioactivities of nitrosoureas.
criteria2 kenapa aku pilih tajuk ni (ramai yang tanya jadi aku nak mention kat sini)
1. aku tak perlu masuk lab
2. aku nampak perkataan 'computer'
3. aku faham maksud 'bioactivities'
4. tak ramai orang nak berebut pilih tajuk ala ala macam tajuk aku, heee~~
5. no idea pasal nitrosoureas~~huhu
Briefly, I have to design new drugs of nitrosoureas with improved bioactivity using computational approach.
What is nitrosoureas?
Nitrosoureas is one type of drugs that usually being used in chemotheraphy to treat cancers. In simple words, nitrosoureas is an anticancer drug.
Why use computational approach?
This approach can save energy, money and time since I don't have to enter laboratory. Usually to develop new drug, it takes a very long time, sometimes from 8 to 12 years. And a lot of money must be invested since chemical used are very expensive and the equipments and also the facilities.
So by using computer, I can save time, money and energy to do other things like watching jdorama. Erk~~
But then, after I create new drug, this drug must be validated in laboratory, to see the effectiveness of the drug on animal, and then on human. (I just have to do computational work only, the validation part maybe my junior will do it, maybe~~ or maybe there is a company want to buy my design and develop it in their lab?? hehe~~I'm dreaming)
How to design it?
By using statistical analysis, correlation coefficient (r), standard coefficient (s) and so on. I guest some of you might familiar with those words right?? (we learnt it during secondary school, maybe, if I'm not mistakenlaa~~)
To do the analaysis, I must have several data about nitrosoureas, so,
where I got the data?
I collected all the data from previous studies of other scientists, from their journal and patent. I just make use of the available data to do statistical analysis.
Nah, "easy right, just let the computer do your work," bak kata supervisorku, tapi kepalaku pening sejak dari sem lepas gara-gara projek ni, huhu~~(sama jugak macam kawan-kawan aku yang lain demam gara-gara fyp, huhu~~). Nampak macam senang, tapi sebenarnya ianya agak menyulitkan sebab kitorang tak terlalu terdedah dengan subjek yang berkaitan dengan projek aku ni macam computational chemistry and QSAR.
nak cari bukupun susah sebab kebanyakan dah diangkut ke Indera Mahkota library, ikut budak2 pure biotech balik Pahang, huhu~~. Tapi ada je buku, sikit je la. Sikit tupun x faham2 sampai sekarang sebab aku memang lampi, hee~~
That's all about my fyp, harapnya berjalan lancarlah petang ni, walaupun tak dikira markah. And to my friends, all the best for fyp, tunjukkan yang kita boleh. Muslim students boleh!! Malay students boleh!! Malaysia boleh!! Biotech students boleh!! Engin students boleh!! UIA students boleh!! boleh!! boleh!! dan boleh!! Heehee~~
